Cool Stuff For a Cool Planet: After a 13 Year Hiatus from Making an Album, Natalie Merchant Comes Ba

We have loved Natalie Merchant's music since her 10,000 Maniac days. Old and new fans alike can rejoice because she has a new album out called: "Giving Up Everything" by Natalie Merchant. This new self-titled and self-produced collection of 10 original songs is her first offering in 13 years.

While this may be Merchant's only album release in over a decade, it's not like she's been idle. Far from it. Besides the songs on her new album, Merchant performed in and was the musical director for the powerful, must-see, anti-fracking concert protest film entitled "Dear Governor Cuomo".

"Dear Governor Cuomo" was written and directed by writer, filmmaker and National Geographic adventurer Jon Bowermaster. This inspiring concert film was described as a a combination of "The Last Waltz" and "An Inconvenient Truth". (We are a huge fan of Jon Bowermaster, who along with Natalie Merchant, also happens to live in Ulster County, NY, where New York Green Advocate is based. )
